Universal Pictures Content Group have acquired the UK theatrical rights to the live recording of Six The Musical!

The Six Original Queens reunited for a special one-off performance that was filmed and will now be screened in cinemas on 6 April.

Written by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, the pop-inspired musical brings the queens - Catherine of Aragon (Jarnéia Richard-Noel), Anne Boleyn (Millie O'Connell), Jane Seymour (Natalie Paris), Anna of Cleves (Alexia McIntosh) , Katherine Howard (Aimie Atkinson), and Catherine Parr (Maiya Quansah-Breed) — right into the 21st century with infectious, empowering performances, accompanied by the on-stage band, the Ladies in Waiting.

🎈 42 BALLOONS FLIES STATESIDE 🎈

Chicago Shakespeare Theater are excited to announce the newest addition to the 2024/25 season: the North American premiere of the new musical 42 Balloons. From the multi-award-winning producers Kevin McCollum, Andy Barnes and Wendy Barnes, and Sonia Friedman Productions, 42 Balloons is an ‘80s-inspired musical based on the unbelievable true story of Larry Walters’ daring lawn chair flight.
The show is produced by Chicago Shakespeare Theater after an acclaimed UK run at The Lowry where it garnered audience and critical acclaim, including a five-star review from The Times which proclaimed the show as “whip-smart, funny, and unexpectedly but exceptionally touching.”
The musical features a book, music, and lyrics by Jack Godfrey, direction by Ellie Coote, and will run May 24–June 29, 2025 in The Yard at Chicago Shakespeare Theater.

STARRING AS ‘CAD’ IN THE WORLD PREMIERE OF THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF A CAD

MITESH SONI AND RHIANNON NEADS TO STAR ALONGSIDE

The Watermill Theatre are delighted to announce full casting for the first show in the 2025 season, The Autobiography of a Cad, a new comedy adapted from the satirical novel by A.G. Macdonell by Ian Hislop and Nick Newman, and directed by Paul Hart, playing from Friday 7 February to Saturday 22 March.

James Mack will return to the Watermill to play the eponymous ‘Cad’. James Mack’s previous Watermill credits include ‘Benedick’ in Much Ado About Nothing, Spike, The Hound of the Baskervilles, The Rivals, Macbeth, and Journey’s End. Other stage credits include Burke & Hare (New Wolsey Theatre); Cinderella, One Man, Two Guvnors (Torch Theatre); Robin Hood (The Old Market Theatre, Brighton); and Ragtime (Charing Cross Theatre).

Rhiannon Neads will play ‘Miss Appleby’. Rhiannon is a writer and performer, whose debut play Supernova had a critically acclaimed run at the Omnibus Theatre in 2024, and is in development for radio and TV. As a screenwriter she was runner-up in the Funny Women Comedy Writing Award with her sitcom pilot Hitched. She is one half of award-winning musical comedy duo  Stiff & Kitsch. 

Mitesh Soni will play ‘Mr Collins’ – Mitesh’s extensive stage credits include A Midsummer Night’s Dream (RSC and Barbican);  A Christmas Carol (RSC); The Play What I Wrote (Birmingham Rep and UK Tour); Oliver Twist (Leeds Playhouse); Jack & The Beanstalk and Cinderella (Oldham Coliseum); Macbeth (Tara Arts and UK Tour); Romeo & Juliet (National Theatre).

MIA KHAN AND KYLE NDUKUBA WILL PLAY THE LEAD ROLES IN WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE’S ROMEO AND JULIET

THE ORIGINAL PLAY, ORIGINALLY SCORED – WITH RAP AND R&B

Initial casting has been announced for the 2025 world premiere of ROMEO AND JULIET, an innovative new version of Shakespeare’s play, originally scored with rap and R&B, opening at the Belgrade Theatre from 21 February – 8 March 2025 before playing in Bristol 12 March – 5 April 2025, and at Hackney Empire 23 – 26 April. Mia Khan will play ‘Juliet’ opposite Kyle Ndukuba as ‘Romeo’, with full casting to be announced in the new year.

Romeo and Juliet is a flagship Belgrade Theatre in-house production, directed by its Creative Director, Corey Campbell. A co-production with Bristol Old Vic and Hackney Empire, with set and costume design by Simon Kenny and in collaboration with local Midlands artists That’s A Rap (lyrics), and A Class (music), this will be the original play, originally scored – with rap and R&B: a Shakespearean lyrical love story – for people who love the music of the spoken word of every generation.

RIVERSIDE STUDIOS ANNOUNCES DETAILS OF TRY JANUARY PROGRAMME ACROSS WELLNESS ACTIVITIES, CREATIVE WORKSHOPS AND THEATRE

Executive Director Tony Lankester and the whole team at the West London venue are pleased to announce details of their programme at Riverside Studios for the New Year, which includes wellness activities, creative workshops, three theatre productions and an art exhibition.

New wellness events and creative workshops include Rock Up Guitar Club, Ballroom dance classes, Line Dancing, Sessions By Makers For Makers, The Dance of the Actor: Building Stage Presence, Exploring the Boundaries of Art in Performance, The Artist as Producer, Playwrighting: Developing Ideas for Stage, Introduction to Performance Arts and Introduction to Clown.

In addition to all the exciting events kicking off 2025, Riverside will also be hosting Urban Canvas, an exciting exhibition featuring a diverse collection of works from emerging young artists.

AN EVENING WITH CHRISTINE TREMARCO IN CONVERSATION WITH STEPHEN GRAHAM OBE

Shakespeare North Playhouse is delighted to announce the latest instalment of their “An Evening With...” series will see Liverpool legend joined in conversation with award-winning fim and TV actor Stephen Graham OBE. This will be held at the Shakespeare North Playhouse on Tuesday 17 December 2024.

Christine Tremarco, hailing from Kirkby, began her journey as an actor while attending The Chiltern Stage School, when she landed a role at 14 in the acclaimed and controversial true-story drama “The Leaving of Liverpool”. Since then, her career has flourished for over 34 years.

Stephen Graham, hailing from Kirkby, shot to fame following his critically acclaimed performance in the 2007 BAFTA Best British Film winner This Is England, before going on to star in Line of Duty, The Irishman, Peaky Blinders, Pirates of the Caribbean and more.

THE CHOIR OF MAN TO PLAY A FURTHER SEASON AT THE ARTS THEATRE, AS REDEVELOPMENT TIMELINE YET TO BE FINALISED

12 MARCH – 31 AUGUST

The producers of Olivier-nominated international stage sensation THE CHOIR OF MAN are delighted to announce that – due to changes to the timeline of the proposed major redevelopment of the Arts Theatre – the show will be able to return to its current West End home in 2025 for a 5-month engagement until the end of the summer.

The final performance of the current season will remain as 31 December, and then the theatre will close for 10 weeks for some preparatory work ahead of the redevelopment.

Tickets are on sale now for performances from 12 March until 31 August, with casting to be confirmed.

TuckShop – the UK’s only specialist production company devoted all things drag - are back in the West End again this Christmas with an exciting co-production with Jack Maple Productions. This year’s pantomime Peter Pan is Tuckshop’s fourth all drag pantomime and will run at The Phoenix Theatre on select dates from Monday 2 December 2024 to Monday 6 January 2025.

Starring an incredible line-up of Drag talent including Drag Race UK Winner Ginger Johnson as Hook, alongside Tuck Shop alums and Drag Race legends Kitty Scott-Claus, Cheryl Hole and Kate Butch as the Darling children, TikTok and viral sensation Bailey J Mills as Tinkerbell, Yshee Black as Smee, Ophelia Love returns as Villager No.4, Mahatma Khandi as the mermaid and Drag King sensation Richard Energy in the title role as Peter.

Joining them are ensemble members Cameron Everitt, Zach Parkin and Theo Simpson.

Rude, crude and not for prudes, this is the very adult, very hilarious, very demure pantomime from the creator of Death Drop, Cool Rider and Gals Aloud and written by Gareth Joyner and directed by Christopher D. Clegg (the brains behind TuckShop), with associate director Frazer Meakin, lighting by Toby P Darvill, sound by Will Thompson (for SoundWorks) and additional choreography and staging by Zach Parkin and Taz Hoesli.

FIRST LOOK: HACKNEY EMPIRE’S 25TH PANTOMIME

DICK WHITTINGTON AND HIS CAT

Directed by and starring Olivier Award-winner Clive Rowe as Sarah the Cook, in what will be his 17th pantomime at Hackney, Dick Whittington and his Cat will run at Hackney Empire from Saturday 23 November 2024 to Sunday 5 January 2025.

Hackney Empire’s pantomime is one of the most iconic in the UK. The first pantomime of the modern era was Aladdin starring Peter Duncan in 1988, after the venue was transformed from a bingo hall back into a working theatre in the 1980s by Roland and Claire Muldoon, and, including Aladdin, there have been 24 pantomimes since. This year’s festive season will burst into life with the 25th Hackney Empire pantomime, celebrating decades of providing joy for all the family, and in several cases, a vital introduction to the magic of theatre.

BELGRADE THEATRE ANNOUNCE COMPANIES FOR THE 2024 SPRINGBOARD ARTIST DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

MIDLANDS COMPANIES BLINDSPOT THEATRE, DAUNTLESS EVOLUTION AND THAT’S A RAP

Launched in 2015, Springboard is a development programme that helps early career companies or and artists to scale ideas, consider capital, fundraise, and create a business plan, as well as creating and developing projects.

The companies Blindspot Theatre, Dauntless Evolution, and That’s A Rap will be able to access:
- Selected performance slots in the Belgrade season and free rehearsal space for Research and Development.
- Designated office space at the theatre
- An opportunity to register company addresses at the Belgrade Theatre
- Monthly one-to-one meetings with the Associate Director.
- Tailored one-to-one meetings and support from the wider Belgrade team, across departments such as production, finance, fundraising and marketing (including applying to the Arts Council),
- Support from the Belgrade’s marketing team for shows being performed at the Belgrade Theatre.

WHAT WE TALK ABOUT WHEN WE TALK ABOUT ANNE FRANK

CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED PRODUCTION TO EXTEND AT THE MARYLEBONE FOR FOUR WEEKS ONLY IN THE NEW YEAR 20 JANUARY – 15 FEBRUARY

A four-week extension has been announced for the critically acclaimed production of What We Talk About When We Talk About Anne Frank, a new serious comedy by Nathan Englander, based on his acclaimed 2011 short story in The New Yorker, directed by Patrick Marber. The show will finish its current sell out run on Saturday 23 November, and then re-open at the Marylebone Theatre on Monday 20 January 2025, playing until Saturday 15 February.

The current cast will all reprise their roles for the 2025 dates: Wing, Scandal and The Big Bang Theory star Joshua Malina, who made his London theatre debut as ‘Phil’, Caroline Catz as ‘Debbie’, Dorothea Myer-Bennett as ‘Shoshana’, Simon Yadoo as ‘Yerucham’ and Gabriel Howell as ‘Trevor’.

The role of Shoshana will be played by Mercedes Bahleda from 20 – 25 January inclusive.

KING’S HEAD THEATRE ANNOUNCES SPECIAL GUEST STARS OF STAGE AND SCREEN FOR THE ADULTS ONLY PERFORMANCES OF CINDERELLA

King’s Head Theatre, Elphin Productions and Little Angel Theatre, are delighted to announce details of the very special guest stars of stage and screen who will be appearing on and off stage in the adults-only performances of Cinderella, its first ever pantomime in its new and flexible 250-seat auditorium this Christmas, as well as design input from Dame Zandra Rhodes and artist Andrew Logan MBE.

Each of these special one-off performances will include one special guest star, who will have their own featured number as the entertainment at the Prince’s ball. They will also go on to join the cast for the all-singing, all-dancing closing number.

Cassidy Janson will perform on Thursday 5 December; Drag Race UK Season 1’s Vinegar Strokes on Wednesday 11 December; Six alumnae Danielle Steers on Thursday 12 December; musical theatre legend and record breaking John Owen-Jones on Thursday 19 December; Fresh from Menier Chocolate Factory’s The Producers, Australian cabaret and drag diva Trevor Ashley will perform on Monday 30 December; and award-winning artist Christina Bianco on Sunday 5 January.

WEST END QUEENS CELEBRATE SIX SENSATIONAL YEARS WITH A ROYAL AFTERNOON TEA AT THE RUBENS AT THE PALACE

The producers of Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss’s award-winning global smash hit SIX, alongside members of the current company of West End Queens, kick started the show’s West End Sixth Birthday celebrations with a delicious Royal Afternoon Tea at The Rubens at the Palace on 6 November, in the shadow of Buckingham Palace.

The Queens and assembled guests enjoyed a selection of the exquisite patisserie on offer as part of the Royal Afternoon Tea.

The Queens and guests then toasted the show with champagne and a specially created birthday cake served in true Royal fashion by the team at The Rubens at the Palace.
